VA Compensation Appeals Lawyer - A Combat Veteran Fighting for Fellow Veterans

I know what it feels like to get that letter from the VA denying your claim. I know the frustration of a system that sends you to war and then fights you when you come home broken. I am Jose Robles Jr - four combat tours in the Middle East with the United States Air Force, All Air Force Boxing Team, and now a Texas attorney who dedicates his practice to fighting for veterans who got a raw deal from the VA. I have been through the system. I have sat in those waiting rooms. I have dealt with the bureaucracy. And now I use my law degree to ensure veterans receive the disability compensation they earned through their service. No fee unless we win your appeal.

We Fight for Veterans Across Fort Worth and All of Texas

You served your country. You did everything they asked. And when you came home with injuries - physical and invisible - the VA rated you at 10% when it should have been 70%.

You served your country. You did everything they asked. And when you came home with injuries - physical and invisible - the VA rated you at 10% when it should have been 70%. Or they denied your claim entirely, saying your condition is not service-connected despite the fact that you were perfectly healthy before you deployed and came home a different person.

This is personal for me. I am not a lawyer who has read about military service in a textbook. I lived it. Four tours. I saw what combat does to the human body and mind. I watched brothers and sisters come home with injuries that the VA still does not fully recognize. And I have spent my legal career making sure the system works for the people who sacrificed the most.

The Fort Worth VA Medical Center serves thousands of North Texas veterans. Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth is home to service members who transition to civilian life every day. Texas has one of the largest veteran populations in the country. Too many of those veterans are living with denied claims, underrated disabilities, and a VA system that seems designed to wear you down until you give up.

I do not give up. That is not how I was trained.

VA Compensation Cases We Handle

We represent veterans at every stage of the VA disability process across Fort Worth, Richardson, San Antonio, and all of Texas.

Every veteran's case is different. But the fight is the same - getting you the rating and compensation you earned.

How Joe Robles Jr Builds Your VA Appeal

The VA denial letter is not the end. It is the beginning of the real fight. Most veterans who appeal with proper legal representation win.

1

Free Case Evaluation

I personally review your denial letter, your C-file, and your medical records. I tell you exactly where the VA got it wrong, what evidence is missing, and what our best path forward is. No cost. No obligation. Veteran to veteran. Call (214) 444-3343.

2

C-File and Records Analysis

Your VA claims file (C-file) is the foundation of everything. We pull your complete file and analyze every rating decision, medical record, service record, and prior filing. We identify the errors the VA made, the evidence they ignored, and the gaps we need to fill. Most denied claims fail because of missing evidence, not because the veteran does not deserve the benefit.

3

Medical Evidence Development

The number one reason claims get denied is a weak or missing nexus - the medical link between your service and your current condition. We work with independent medical professionals who understand VA disability standards and write thorough nexus letters that directly address the VA's denial rationale. If you need a new C&P exam, we prepare you so the examiner sees the full picture of your condition - not a snapshot from a 15-minute appointment.

4

Appeal Strategy and Filing

Based on your case, we choose the strongest appeal lane: a Supplemental Claim with new evidence, a Higher-Level Review to correct VA errors, or a Board of Veterans Appeals for a fresh decision. Each lane has its own timeline and requirements. We pick the one that gives you the best chance of winning at the highest rating.

5

Hearing Representation

If your case goes before the Board of Veterans Appeals, I will represent you at the hearing. I present your evidence, argue your case, and make sure the Veterans Law Judge understands exactly why your disability is service-connected and why you deserve a higher rating. I speak their language because I lived the experience behind the claim.

You pay nothing unless we win your appeal.

What Your VA Disability Claim May Be Worth

VA disability compensation is based on your combined disability rating. Monthly payments are set by federal law and adjusted annually for the cost of living.

Back pay can be substantial - the VA owes you from the effective date of your claim, which can go back years.

Combined Rating Monthly (No Dependents) With Spouse and Child
30% $524.31 $620.31
50% $1,075.16 $1,213.16
70% $1,716.28 $1,896.28
100% $3,737.85 $3,981.85
100% TDIU $3,737.85 $3,981.85

Rates reflect the 2025 VA compensation schedule. Actual amounts vary based on dependents and specific circumstances.

What Back Pay Could Mean for You

If your claim has been denied or underrated for years, the VA owes you retroactive compensation from the effective date.

A veteran rated at 70% who was wrongly denied for three years could be owed over $60,000 in back pay alone - on top of ongoing monthly compensation for the rest of their life.

We pursue every category of VA benefits available to maximize your total recovery.

Federal VA Regulations - What Works in Your Favor

VA disability claims are governed by federal law, primarily Title 38 of the United States Code. Several provisions work in the veteran's favor.

Why Veterans Trust Joe Robles Jr with Their VA Claims

This is not marketing. This is my life.

I enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four combat tours in the Middle East. I competed on the All-Air Force Boxing Team. I know what it means to serve, and I know what it costs. When I came home and earned my BFA from the University of North Texas and then my J.D. from Texas A&M University School of Law in 2018, I made a decision: I would use my law degree to fight for the people I served with.

Every VA case I take is personal. I am not reading about combat stress in a medical journal - I have lived it. I am not guessing what burn pit exposure does to your lungs - I have breathed that air. When I sit across from a veteran, and they tell me the VA denied their claim, I do not just understand the legal issue. I understand the betrayal.

No other Fort Worth law firm can say that. No other attorney in this area has four combat tours and a law degree fighting for your VA benefits. This is what I was built to do.

VA Disability Lawyer FAQ

You have three options after a denial: (1) Supplemental Claim - submit new and relevant evidence the VA did not previously consider, (2) Higher Level Review - request a senior reviewer to examine the existing evidence for errors, or (3) Board of Veterans Appeals - present your case to a Veterans Law Judge. Each lane has different timelines and strategic advantages. We analyze your denial and recommend the strongest path.

Timelines vary by appeal lane. Supplemental Claims typically take 4 to 6 months. Higher Level Reviews average 4 to 5 months. Board of Veterans Appeals cases can take 1 to 3 years, depending on the docket. We choose the lane that balances speed with the highest probability of winning at the correct rating.

Yes. Federal law allows attorneys to represent veterans after an initial decision on their claim has been made. For appeals of denied or underrated claims, you have every right to hire an attorney. Our fee is contingent on winning - you pay nothing unless we successfully increase your benefits.

The Honoring Our PACT Act of 2022 is the largest expansion of VA benefits in decades. It covers veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances. If you served in Iraq, Afghanistan, Southwest Asia, or other designated locations after 9/11 and have respiratory conditions, cancers, or other health issues, the PACT Act likely applies to you. It creates presumptive service connection, meaning the VA cannot deny your claim simply because you lack a direct nexus letter.

A bad C&P exam is one of the most common reasons for a low rating or denial. If the examiner spent 10 minutes with you and wrote a report that does not reflect the severity of your conditions, we can challenge the adequacy of that exam. We obtain independent medical opinions from doctors who take the time to review your full record and provide thorough assessments. On your next exam, we prepare you so that the examiner understands the true impact of your disabilities.

Yes. PTSD is one of the most common service-connected disabilities. You need a current diagnosis, a stressor event during service, and a nexus between the two. For combat veterans, the VA must accept your account of the stressor event if it is consistent with the circumstances of your service - they cannot demand additional corroboration. If your PTSD claim was denied, it is almost always an evidence issue we can fix.

You can file for an increased rating if your condition has worsened, or appeal the original decision if you believe the rating was wrong from the start. Many veterans are underrated because the C&P exam did not capture the full severity of their conditions, or because the VA failed to consider all the diagnostic criteria. We review your rating decision, identify where the VA got it wrong, and fight for the rating that accurately reflects your disability.
